Soap grains are versatile, free-flowing, solid, or granular particles derived from saponified fats/oils, typically appearing as white to light yellow granules. Used primarily as a raw material for detergents, soaps, and laundry products, they offer high solubility, excellent cleaning properties, and contain >84% dry soap. They can also refer to small, leftover soap pieces used for washing.

  • Appearance: Small, free-flowing, solid particles (granular, flake, or powder) ranging from white to slightly yellow.
  • Composition: Primarily Sodium Palmate or Sodium Palm Kernelate (fatty acids, palm-oil, sodium salts).
  • Properties: Highly soluble in water, ionizing to form fatty acid ions. They are weakly alkaline with a pH of 9.5–11.5.
  • Industrial Use: Used in manufacturing laundry soap, toilet soap, and transparent soap due to high foaming and cleansing power.
  • Alternative Definition: "Soap grains" can also refer to small scraps or ends of soap bars used for washing, often paired with a mesh bag for exfoliation.
